User Experience (UX) is a term that is used in the industry of product design that captures the combination of four main disciplines. These four disciplines arise from the fields of psychology, anthropology, and Human Computer Interaction (HCI). The four disciplines; Experience Design, Interaction Design, Information Architecture and User Research are described more below.
Experience design is the overall feeling a user experiences while using a system; it includes trust, ease, enjoyment, and confidence. Adoption and satisfaction of a system is the outcome of good experience design.
Interaction design is the design of what is clickable and which aspects of a page or application are interactive. The interactions together create the experience.
Information Architecture is the relationship of information and consistency of terms used within a page or application.
User Research is the assessment of the user’s needs and of a product’s design to ensure that it is usable and useful to the target audience.
